Plasma Cutters

A Plasma Cutter is an electronic device that uses an electric arc and compressed air to to cut metal. Because the Plasma Cutter uses an arc, it can cut almost any metal, including Aluminium.

Plasma Cutter Performance - A Plasma Cutters performance will depend on the material being cut, for example, a Plasma Cutter with a max clean cut of 10mm Steel will normally achieve a max cut of around 6mm Aluminium. Also, the thicker the material, the slower the Plasma Cutter will perform.

Choosing a Plasma Cutter - Your choice of Plasma Cutter will depend firstly on whether or not you need a built in compressor and then secondly, what type of work you want the Plasma Cutter to do. It is always wise to consider a Plasma Cutter that is capable of cutting a greater thickness than you would normally need to cut. So if you generally cut 6-8mm steel, a machine like the Prestige Plasma Cutter 31 with a max cut of 8mm, will do it, but slowly. So if you cut a lot of this thickness it would be wise to consider the Prestige Plasma Cutter 41, which, with a max cut of 12mm steel, will slice through 6-8mm steel at a much faster rate.
